Membership

Nominations for Executive Committee

Nominations are called for election to the Executive Committee prior to the AGM. Nominations must be by two members of the society and must be sent in writing to the secretary.

Guests

Members are reminded that your are welcome to bring guests to any of the dinner meetings, especially if they are interested in becoming a member of the Society. A dinner fee of $80 per guest is payable. Please advise the secretary prior to the meeting if you intend to invite a guest.  The dinner fee can be deducted from the membership fee if the guest joins the Society.

New Members

The Committee is keen to encourage the introduction of new members to the Society. To this end, the Committee proposes a reduced membership fee for the first year of membership.  We propose to set the standard membership for this year at $300, with the fee for first year members at $200. The rules of the Society state that the object of the Society shall be the promotion of medico legal knowledge in all its aspects. Membership of the Society is open to "qualified members of the legal and medical professions, and of such other persons as may be interested in medico legal work".

We encourage all members to think about potential new members. Candidates for membership should be proposed and seconded in writing by members of the Society. Nominations can be sent to the secretary.

Speakers Programme

The engagement of speakers always requires a good deal of thought and preparation on the part of the Committee. The Committee is mindful of the need to engage speakers who are not only interesting and entertaining, but who are also able to contribute to intellectual discourse on issues which are important to the Society's members. The Committee would be pleased to receive any suggestions from members for future speakers. Please email Stewart Germann:secretary@germann.co.nz
